Well, I am a bit behind with the posts about books, because we had a very nice visitor from Cambridge / UK here over the weekend. Thus, we spent the whole weekend chatting away about our relatives, about our lives and families, about our – however uncertain – future and about history and politics. We also went for a walk to the Kiel Förde and went by boat to Laboe on Sunday. Yes, this weekend was great.
But now let’s return to the books.
The most awful book I read at school was probably „Effi Briest“ by Fontane. As I have mentioned before, I have never been able to understand or like Fontane so far. It does not get better when you are forced to read this book at school.
Another book I did not like was „Bellum Gallicum“ by Caesar, but I think this was because we read it throughout a whole schoolyear which is a really long time for pupils and today this would not be possible anymore.
